❓ Quick answers

HDR video: quick answers

How do I tell if an iPhone video is HDR?

Select the original file above. The checker reads its video tracks for Dolby Vision, HLG and PQ metadata. Missing or conflicting tags produce an uncertain result, not an automatic SDR result.

Why does HDR video look washed out after sharing?

The receiving app or display may interpret HDR color incorrectly, or an earlier conversion may already have changed the pixels. A properly tone-mapped SDR copy of the original can help with compatibility, but it cannot guarantee identical appearance everywhere.

Can this website convert HDR to SDR?

No. This free tool checks metadata only. VideoFix for iPhone can make an SDR copy. Our general MOV-to-MP4 tool is not an HDR tone-mapping tool.

Does “Tagged as SDR” mean the colors are correct?

No. A damaged or incorrectly converted video can contain SDR tags. Use the original recording if a received copy already looks gray.

Are videos uploaded?

No. A locally hosted MediaInfo reader analyzes file chunks in your browser. No video, filename or inspection result is sent to our server. Closing the page discards the results.
