How to Convert HEIC to JPG on iPhone

A site wants JPG but your photo is HEIC? Make a JPEG copy of the existing photo. Changing the camera setting only affects future shots.

Which photos need to change?

Already have the photo?

Convert or share a JPEG copy. Keep the HEIC original.

Only changing new shots?

Camera → Formats → Most Compatible records future photos as JPEG.

Try the built-in sharing option

  1. In Photos, open the picture and tap Share, then Options.
  2. Choose Most Compatible where available, then share a copy. Apple says files may convert to JPEG.
  3. Check the received file’s type or extension before uploading. If it is still HEIC, export an explicit JPEG copy.

Need a JPEG saved on the iPhone?

Our PhotoFix app supports HEIC to JPEG, including batches. Select your photos, choose the HEIC-to-JPEG task, then inspect the exported copies. Check the current store listing for access and purchase options.

Have a Mac? Use the built-in export

Open the HEIC in Preview or Photos, choose File → Export and select JPEG. Renaming .HEIC to .JPG does not convert the image.

Keep the original

JPEG uses compression; it does not restore lost detail or guarantee a smaller file. Confirm the copy’s dimensions, appearance and file type. Review location metadata before sharing. Switching Camera → Formats → Most Compatible does not convert photos already in your library.
